SEXIEST CAT OF THE MILLENNIUM

"GIMPY"

"Gimpy came to live in our home over a year ago when she was hit by a car and her owner couldn't afford to fix her leg," says Krista Michonski, of West Haven, Ct. in her submission for the Sexiest Cat of the Millennium.

"We adopted her and had a pin placed in her leg. She came to our home for a the first time, unable to walk and she had to learn to put up with our three other cats. We began to get worried as she wouldn't attempt to walk at all, but after a few weeks she slowly made the journey from her bed to her food bowl!

"She started to get around the house more (especially when she was given her special treat of catnip). Eventually she was fully mobile and you wouldn't even know anything was wrong except that she had a slight "gimp", says Krista.

"Gimpy must have a special sense that we did something special for her. She is the first to come to the door when whe get home. She loves to cuddle on your belly when your on the couch but she must always 'make dough' in a full purr before she plops herself down and she loves to give forehead kisses!"

Here is how Krista believes Gimpy meets our criteria for the Sexiest Cat of the Millennium:

Beauty
"Although Gimpy isn't a pure-bred or a cat with beautiful long fur, she possesses her own unique beauty. She has big, bright eyes and a soft pink nose. She is triple-pawed on the front feet which conveys a message of her inner strength. When she is being pet, the corners of her mouth bend upwards, letting you know with her smile that she appreciates the attention. Gimpy takes pride in the way that she looks, for her fur is always nicely groomed and shiny."

Poise
"Gimpy holds herself very nicely, even when there is something she would rather be doing. For instance, when she is sitting and watching the birds, you know she just wants to jump and sit on their cage. But she just sits on the couch, with her head in the air and her eyes all bright, waiting for someone to take her over to them. She is very patient, and sits nicely by her food bowl waiting to be fed, even if Mommy is late getting her dinner. And believe me, Gimpy looooves to eat. She is also great with company, and I think she would make a great elderly companion. I think she empathizes with others who are challenged."

Intelligence
"Gimpy is very intelligent. She knows how to open the door to the patio so she can sit in the sun. She also knows the routine of her Mom and Dad. Every morning she knows to go sit near the birds after I get out of the shower so when they get uncovered she can see them. If its a day I sleep late, she will come and sit on my pillow until I get up(of course, she usually takes a nap while waiting)! She also is good with sound association. She comes running when she hears the laser light jingle or when the catnip jar is opened or when the Pounce is opened. She seems to sense when you are having a bad day as well. She will come and cuddle on your lap, purring away, waiting for you to talk to her or just to keep you company."

Character
"Gimpy has great character. Being introduced into our house after being hit by a car and having a pin put in her leg, she strived to heal. It took lots of patience and support but her inner strength pulled her through. She is very loving and caring and she thoroughly enjoyed taking our new kitten under her wing and showing her the ropes. Gimpy is also a blast to watch play. She loves to let loose and run around like a nut. She also loves her play mice and her catnip! For a cat that has already endured so much, Gimpy doesn't have to be so sweet and forgiving. But she is!"

"We weren't sure how Gimpy would react when we brought a new kitten in the house because she seemed very settled with life as it was. She took the kitten under her wing, groomed her, played with her and made the kitten her best of friend. The kitten is know 6 months old and deeply admires Gimpy. She "chatters" like Gimpy and always hangs her leg off furniture (Gimpy must always hang her leg or stretch her leg because of the pin placed in it).

"We love "The Gimp" more then anything and are very grateful we took the chance of adopting her!"
