Heritage Histories provides a service dedicated to preserving
the "living legacy" of old buildings and homes.

Examples of interesting history "tidbits" found through research:

"...purchased the 100 acres in 1843 for £37.10"

"In 1873 John Cuppage sold 15 acres of timber (pines) to a lumber merchant from Orillia for $100."

"...the post office was located in an upstairs room at the rear of this home. This room still has the two doors leading from the hallway - the employees' and the customers' entrances."

"...the brick section is one of the original Shepherd family homes, believed to have been built in the 1870s on this property. The 1850s log home, originally the Shannon homestead from the 9th Conc. of Innisfil, was dismantled, moved and reconstructed here in 1986..."

From boots and shoes to functional art and fine objects!

"Paul Amess was a boot and shoemaker by trade and in the 1861 census, $250 worth of leather was listed as raw material. He had three employees (probably his sons) with an average cost per month of male labour at $15."
