Sunray is a company out the States that makes the accessories for the Minelab

Ralph is also a great guy who is an active treasure hunter and he knows his stuff. I have spoken to him on the phone and met him at the Hartford 2000 hunt. It is great to deal with a guy who uses and knows the Minelab product inside and out. You can find Canadian dealers for Sunray products on the links page

There are a couple of items that are must haves for the Explorer. You would not be wise to go without the following two items.

cover

This is the housing cover from Sunray. It does two important things. It keeps you control housing dry and clean. It's main benefit is that it keeps the plastic screen from getting scratched. The slightest amount of dust or dirt will damage the screen when you go to wipe it off if you do not have it protected. I feel sorry for the guy's that got the early Explorers and found out the hard way.

stand

Here is must have item two. It again serves two important functions. First it acts as a base to keep the detector from rolling over when you set it down to get you goodies out of the hole. It also keeps the battery compartment up and out of the mud and dirt and keeps the detector a whole lot cleaner. The stock coil stand from Minelab is a out-rigger type attached to the coil but snagges on everything and does nothing for keep the back end of the detector out of  harms way.

The other thing the stand does is it is an adaptor for the larger headphone jacks used on most metal detector headphones. Now the Explorer comes with a set of headphones wich are not all that bad ( I didn't really like them) but another problem started showing up. The jack connection would started getting shorts in it from all the tugging and strain on the small connector. It started on mine so got the stand and a good set of headphones and problems solved.

I will be posting some more pictures and some advice on his line very soon so stay tuned.
