Written on my palm:
Is God's word on yours

Lately I've been going to Mount Royal on a much more frequent basis and usually I take along a Bible (my Italian New Testament is my current favourite) because on the way up and down the mountain I find myself naturally in meditation mode and, well, might as well fill that mind-hole with good things.

Today I purchased and downloaded an NIV Bible which can be installed complete on my Palm IIIxe (my hand-size computer) and takes only 1.5 meg of memory.  The advantages of this are many:
 - I don't have to carry my NIV study bible which doesn't fit so well into my bike bag.
 - When a song idea comes (often when walking or driving) and I want scripture lyrics I can do a search on the words that I have in mind and find the related verses in the Bible.
 - At church I have my Bible in my suit jacket pocket and though my pastor has been known to mock the youth pastor for his Windows CE device I will be a faithful Berean with my Palm.

Sure, this may sound suspect if you know that I have already purchased two Bible software packages for my computer and downloaded a third (freebie) offered by Mike of Survivor II fame.  But I think that having this with me all the time (as my Palm tends to be) might make this the most useful Bible that I've ever bought.

As for the Palm, this is how I justify this expensive (about $200) device:

Useful functions:
 - Alarm clock (when I'm smoking sausage overnight or as a travel alarm clock)
 - Contacts - all addresses and phone numbers in one place and because it syncs with Outlook I have another copy of my address book on the home computer should I ever lose my Palm.  No more searching for scraps of paper for a phone number!
- To do list - Shortens my time in Home Depot because I have a list of all that I need for my various projects.  Customer orders are also entered here (see "scraps of paper" above)
