Survivor continued:

As I left off on the previous page, I think the first major issue to face as a Christian in a Survivor game is "What will my attitude be vis a vis participating in alliances?"  For sure, every future Survivor game player is going to be wanting to make alliances with other players because they all know that that is how Richard eventually won Survivor I while being far from the most popular player.  If you don't want to participate in any alliances preferring to "let the best man / woman win" you will find yourself quickly voted out.  You would probably get many honourable mentions as being a player with an ethical backbone and then it would be back to "bringing home the bacon (or sausage)" at your day-job.

And who's to say that the Christian way to play is akin to being the "rugged individualist".  I don't think it is, but the question remains, "How do I participate in alliances without compromising Christian values?"

For those that watched the show or explored Survivor hype on the web-site or media:  What did you think about Dirk, especially the things he said after he was eliminated?  Is that what it means to be a Christian and play the Survivor game?

The feedback form below is my way of ending this by starting a discussion.  Any comments you submit on this form will be e-mailed automatically to me.

Thanks for reading,

Note:  The form for submission of your comments (below) does not work (it relies on Frontpage extensions and did work at one time but it doesn't work now so don't waste your time trying).  I have continued to watch Survivor (presently at the Marqueses (sp?) edition) and would be happy to have discussion with you about what is going on.  You can simply e-mail me at the address that you'll find here.

December 2004 update: I don't watch Survivor anymore, in fact I am sick of all the reality shows out there now. Oh for my childhood when life was a sitcom, like Happy Days.
