Car # 7 - 1965 Canadian Corsa 180 (Turbo) Convertible

The car as I first saw it.
Couple minor mods here - electronic ignition and a VW oil filter mount.
Lost in this picture is the telescoping steering column.

This was the heartbreaker.

This car was perfect.  Turbo engine (the first I ever laid eyes on), power top, wood wheel on a telescoping column, almost flawless body (though the paint wanted a little refreshing), built in Oshawa, sold in London and spent its whole life in the area.  Plus, the owner and I hit it off and he had decided I would give this car a good new home (he was holding out for someone who appreciated what the car was).

I saw this car one day before going on vacation.  While I was gone, the dot-com I worked for missed its payroll and shortly thereafter went bust.  A bunch of our paycheques bounced.  It took six weeks to find another job and I had to let the car go.  At least it went to a restorer.

Now, turbo engines seem to be a little finicky and maybe it was smarter to get a 110 for a first car.  Still, who knew when a car like this will appear again?  Ah, but that's what makes the search worthwhile.

Now that I have the Monza, a car like this will have to wait.  Someday, though, someday....
