Car # 4 - 1965 Corsa 140 Convertible

Now, to be honest, if I were to come across this car today, I would buy it, no questions.  There were a few reasons I didn't buy it at the time.  This car was the best I had seen up to that point, but it had a couple of problems.  The convertible top was completely trashed (although the power mechanism worked flawlessly) and there was a knock in the engine as it warmed up.  This was explained as a noisy lifter and it most likely was.  Even if the problem was more severe, there was also the option to throw a freshly-rebuilt 140 into the deal.  No problem.  There was a little bondo that was cracking, but there was virtually no rust on the car.  The floors were the best I have seen yet.

So why didn't I buy it?  This was really early in the search and my budget was around three thousand.  This car was close to six (Canadian).  Add a few hundred for a new top and we are way over.  Beyond that, we were still in the apartment and really had no space to be swapping engines.  This was a good buy, but the timing was just dead wrong.  If I saw it now, it would most likely come home with me.
