Gibson
Gibson is a four year old Golden Retriever/Collie
mix and I have nicknamed him
Mr. Happy Go Lucky. Despite his size he is very gentle and he is a
bit of a lap dog. He
loves to cuddle and thrives on lots of attention. Gibson really enjoys
being brushed,
playing ball and riding in the car. He is very good with other dogs
and yesterday he was
very well behaved at the walkathon. He does get a bit excited around
food and is a bit
of a puller on leash but it’s nothing that a little bit of training
can’t fix.
Gibson’s owner brought him to us about 1 ½ weeks ago
in tears. Unfortunately, it’s one
of those new baby in, old dog out stories and he was given no choice
but to give
the dog up to us or he was going to be taken to the animal shelter.

Strider
In the Foster's own words
Strider is a 5 yr old Rottweiler/Australian Shepherd mix. He is a
great dog with
lots of energy and loves to play. He is very people friendly, loves
to run around, loves to
play catch and to cuddle. He did basic obedience classes. He is a
dog that likes attention
but who can be left in cage without complaining. He loves to go for
walks. He is a very
smart dog who adapts well. He gets along with most other dogs. Needs
a family who can
give him the time and attention that he needs and deserves. He has
had all his shots
and is neutered. He is a great dog and friend who will make you smile
at his funny antics.

Kona
Pure-Bred Black Labrador Retriever
Kona is a loving and loyal 4 year old typical pure-bred black Labrador
Retriever. He is
full of energy and enjoys long walks, plays in the park, swimming
and would lay for hours to
have his belly rubbed. He is patient, kind and mostly well-behaved.
He knows most basic commands
(sit, stay, come) but could benefit from more training (he really
chooses when he wants to listen).
He is smart enough to pick up on most training when repeated regularly.
Kona also enjoys being active, though his recent knee surgery (cruiciate
ligament) means that he
cannot be involved in sustained high-impact activity (like running
with you). He loves to play in the
park, though can be aggressive with other dogs around toys or if he
thinks too many dogs
are picking on him (e.g., I try to avoid leaving him wrestle when
there is a multi-dog pile on).
His knee surgery, and allergies (food / seasonal) require special
care and attention - Kona
must eat a non-chicken diet (vegetarian or whitefish and receives
glucosamine pills with his morning
meal to help his joints recover and prevent his arthritis from developing
further). He has
developed a strong fondness for Tripe with his meals.
Kona loves attention and he’ll seek it from anyone. He is good
with children, though sometimes
forgets his own size and will approach quickly. He would be best in
a home with children who
know dogs. Kona also loves to play wrestle but will get a little rough.
He will check himself when
he is reminded that he is not supposed to bite (ask him “are
you supposed to bite”). He is
well trained, and is fine left unattended in the house without being
crated but may
act out at first while adjusting to a new home.
For several personal reasons I have to find a new home for Kona. He
is a good dog who
requires, BUT MOST OF ALL DESERVES, a home with a family who will
love him and
shower him with attention. I do not want Kona to bounce from home
to home, so please
only respond to this ad if you are seriously interested in committing
to a dog. I can provide
Kona’s toys, crate, blankets and bones.

Misha
Nanook
Misha (5 year old Labrador) and Nanook (approximately
7 year old Husky) are
2 great family dogs, they have been with our family for over 5 years
and have
brought us nothing but joy. They are 2 kind souls that are great with
children and have been
raised around a cat. We are looking for a loving home for both of
them, and in a
perfect world we would like to place them in the same home as they
are very attached
to one another. That being said we are willing to split them as keeping
them with us is
affecting our son's health a great deal. They are great dogs in almost
every way, they
only rarely bark, they are very affectionate, fully housebroken and
can "hold it in" over
10 hours. That being said whomever is considering adopting one or
both of these dogs
should be warned that they do shed a great deal and are not to be
treated as <outside dogs>.
They have both been raised as in-house family dogs. They like the
outdoors and really need
the exercise but they love cuddling with their masters while watching
TV as well. Both Nanook
and Misha are fixed and up to date on their vaccination. We ask that
the adopting family
return them to us should the adoption not work out. Thank you for
considering
giving our best friends a new home.

Jasper
I will be relocating out of the province and, due to the nature of
my employment, I will not be able to
bring my dog along with me. Therefore, I have to find a new home for
my best friend. Jasper is a
seven (7) year old female Siberian Husky. Jasper is a beautiful, well
behaved, quiet dog. Jasper
loves to go for walks and runs. She needs exercise on a daily basis
and, as such, needs
a home with a large yard. Although Jasper is tolerant of other animals,
Jasper will do best in a
home that does not have any other dogs. If you are interested in providing
Jasper with a loving,
caring, forever home - I would like to hear from you.

Duchess
MEET DUCHESS.
Duchess is five years old with a wonderful personality for people,
children, and even other animals....but only inside the house. Outside,
she's socially retarded and MUST try to dominate every non-human creature
she encounters. To the eyes of another dog walker, Duchess does not
seem friendly but she's never hurt another dog…she's just trying
to be dominant. Thus, any time Duchess is off leash is risky. On leash
is fine though she'll pull and dance and bark at other dogs. It's
the terrier side of her personality you see.
Duchess is quite bright. She does tricks and won obedience school
and even met with the dog psychologist. She's a sweetie but neither
treats nor attention short circuit her need to stalk and pounce on
other creatures. So, we walk Duchess on a haltie Now, once she knows
your dog, they're great chums. Duchess is great with our 21 month
old little guy Liam and is very affectionate. She offers the occasional
alarm growl or barks if there's a strange noise or a knock at the
door. In our opinion, the perfect spot for Duchess is to be a house
dog on a big property that she can run around on with another dog.
Of course, that sounds like a pretty good environment for almost any
pooch!
If you'd like to meet Duchess, we'd love to meet you to see if there's
a "good fit".
